Richard Otto works as a system administrator for Outtask and has been part of the team for about five years. However, his connection with the people behind Outtask goes back much further. “I’ve known the management team for about 20 to 25 years. Over that time, I’ve worked with them on multiple occasions, and for the past two years, I’ve been working specifically with Outtask.”
Plenty of freedom in the job
Richard’s role at Outtask is quite unique. “I have a distinct position within the team, which allows me to bring in my own expertise.” As a system administrator specializing in Windows, Richard plays a key role in ensuring that IT systems run smoothly.
Everyone in IT finds fulfillment in different ways. While some colleagues enjoy the challenge of writing complex code, Richard finds his passion in successfully completing large-scale projects. “I recently managed an extensive migration where I acted as the main contact for the data center. The challenge was coordinating all the steps and ensuring everything went seamlessly. That moment when everything is completed successfully always gives me immense satisfaction.”
Another aspect Richard values is the freedom he’s given. “At Outtask, I have the space to explore different technologies. While my primary focus is on Windows certification, I also enjoy working with Linux and VMware occasionally. That variety keeps the job interesting.” In his role, Richard gets to combine and apply these different skill sets.

The great atmosphere at Outtask
Although Richard currently works on assignment for ICTU, he still feels very much part of Outtask. He speaks highly of the company’s atmosphere. “Everyone gets along well, and I really appreciate that. The informal vibe and activities, like a fun boat trip, create a nice balance between work and relaxation.”
Outtask brings together a great mix of people from different backgrounds, and everyone receives support tailored to their individual needs. “For some of my international colleagues, Outtask really feels like a second family, which is wonderful to see. For me, being closer to home, it’s a little different, but I also feel completely at ease here,” Richard explains.
The fact that international developers feel this way shows how much Outtask values creating a sense of belonging. “The atmosphere at Outtask is definitely great. You’re in good hands here, no matter where you come from.”
