Interview with Linda: “At Outtask, everyone is there for you.”

What is it like working for an organization that supports international employees in their new environment? Linda de Graaf is a Field Manager and HR Officer at Outtask. In this interview, she shares how she joined Outtask, the challenges she’s encountered, and why she finds so much satisfaction in supporting consultants from all over the world.

An Opportunity to Grow

Linda first came into contact with Outtask several years ago when she was hired to support back-office operations and HR-related tasks. “I quickly realized there was plenty of room for personal growth at Outtask,” Linda says. “My responsibilities included managing insurance, payroll administration, and residence permits for foreign employees. I was given great trust and every opportunity to explore new topics.” Thankfully, I’m also proactive—I don’t wait around but actively seek information or ask for help, and this approach got me quite far. Seeing her role evolve over the years has brought her significant joy.

From HR to Field Management: Caring for International Colleagues

Linda’s passion for the human side of her work quickly became apparent. “I genuinely enjoy helping people settle comfortably into a new environment,” she explains. “This applies equally to expats who’ve just arrived in the Netherlands and Dutch consultants starting new challenges.”

She elaborates, “Whether it’s assisting with initial arrival arrangements for expats or providing support for Dutch consultants stepping into new roles, I like making sure everyone has a smooth transition. I strive to give every new colleague a strong start so they immediately feel at home with Outtask.”

Personalized Support as a Differentiating Factor

Linda remains closely involved even after consultants begin their assignments. “It’s important to me that they see Outtask as more than just an employer,” she emphasizes. “We take the time to assist our people, whether they need help finding childcare in the Netherlands or have questions about expatriate tax issues. Everyone has unique needs, and we ensure they feel heard.”

Her approach to personal connection helps maintain strong ties between consultants and Outtask. “It’s particularly vital because many consultants leave behind family and friends, which can be quite challenging. Building genuine relationships allows us to offer the best possible support when needed. If someone shares something personal with me, like a family member undergoing surgery, we make sure they feel supported by Outtask in those moments.”

Working Together at Outtask

Linda shares her experience of working at Outtask: “The atmosphere here is open, and we genuinely help each other. I truly feel part of a team, and this sense of belonging extends to our consultants as well.”

She also sees plenty of opportunities for personal growth. “I attend training sessions and keep up-to-date with changing laws and regulations. At Outtask, there’s always room to learn and develop further.”

A Meaningful Role

Linda recounts a memorable anecdote illustrating the joy she finds in her work:

“Last year, one of our consultants became a father. It’s obviously a stressful and hectic time when your partner is about to give birth. Despite this, in the middle of the night, I received a text from that consultant sharing the good news. Moments like these highlight the personal connections we build and how much our support means to them.”
