A conversation with Wellington: I truly feel part of the team

Two years ago, Wellington moved from Brazil to the Netherlands to work as a developer for Outtask. Relocating to a new country brought exciting challenges and fresh experiences. In this interview, Wellington shares what it was like to emigrate, how he’s enjoying his work, and how Outtask supported him throughout the process.

A warm welcome and great support

Before joining Outtask, Wellington lived and worked in São Paolo, the largest city in Brazil and the entire western hemisphere. Moving to the Netherlands introduced him to many new experiences. “On my first day, we went out for lunch, and I was expecting something warm, like we have in Brazil. But instead, it was a typical Dutch lunch with sandwiches and juice,” he recalls. Small cultural differences like these took some getting used to but have now become part of the charm of living in a new country.

Wellington felt well-supported by Outtask during this transition. “Outtask helped me with all the paperwork needed for my move, as well as finding a place to live here. They also coached me on integration and prepared me for what to expect in Dutch job interviews.” This level of support helped him settle into his new environment quickly.

Outtask has been amazing in supporting my move and making me feel like a true part of the team.

Challenges that keep work interesting

Wellington’s first assignment was at BMG, part of the ING Group, where he encountered a challenging work environment right away. “My first project at BMG was something I didn’t have much experience with yet. Add to that the fact that I was working in a new country with colleagues I didn’t know, and you can imagine it was initially quite challenging.”

But Wellington thrives on challenges. “Every time, there’s something new to tackle. One day we’re migrating a platform, another time implementing new technologies, and sometimes working on APIs. These challenges keep the work interesting and help me continually learn and grow in my field.”

Feeling truly included

Of course, Wellington remains a part of the Outtask family, and this connection means a lot to him—not just because Outtask helps with practical matters. “From the beginning, I’ve felt like I truly belong. We have at least one meeting a month with Outtask, and they don’t just ask about my work but also about my personal life and how I’m settling into the Netherlands. Outtask genuinely cares about its employees and wants the best for them.”

Wellington also appreciates the opportunities Outtask provides to connect with colleagues, even though many are on assignments at different companies. “I’m friends with a few colleagues here, and I see them regularly. But for most of my Outtask colleagues, our paths don’t often cross. That’s why the events Outtask organizes are great—they give us a chance to meet new people and strengthen our connections.”

Enjoying work at Outtask

Overall, Wellington is happy at Outtask and has no plans to leave anytime soon. “Maybe in the future, I’ll want a different role, but Outtask often has those opportunities. I’d love to continue working here, even if I take on a new assignment later.”

He also has a piece of advice for other international professionals considering working at Outtask: “Learn some Dutch before you move here. It makes everything a bit easier. And don’t worry—Outtask will support you in an amazing way.”
